Another aspect around the season NFTs I haven't seen people talk about is how it pulled in a nice passive profit for Merkle. According to OpenSea, The seasonal Farcaster mints, plus the OG mint netted 2,275.33 ETH to date (that's $5.26 Milion as of today's ETH price).
Even taking into account OS's 1% cut, which would amount to 22.75 ETH ($52.6k as of today) that's still a decent chunk of change to add to their bottom line and contribute to their operation costs.
I have no idea how Merkle managed these earnings when they were running things, but I'm surfacing it to show how free mints are woefully underrated as a revenue stream that most people forget about after the hype moves on to the next thing.
Rooting for @cassie and the team to be the next stewards, but should things not work out that way, it's a revenue stream to be consider if it hasn't already.
